Accounts Payable Clerk — Fully Remote

We are seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and highly organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our accounting team in a fully remote capacity. The Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for accurately processing invoices, managing vendor payments, reconciling accounts, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and internal controls.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and capable of working independently while maintaining effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders and external vendors. Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, organization, and accountability are essential for success in this role.

Core Responsibilities:

Review and verify incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, proper coding, and authorization.
Match invoices with corresponding purchase orders, receiving documentation, and other supporting records.
Enter invoices into the accounting system accurately, including appropriate account coding and expense classifications.
Monitor payment terms and ensure approved invoices are processed and paid in a timely manner.
Investigate and resolve invoice, payment, and account discrepancies in collaboration with vendors and internal departments.
Process vendor payments using approved methods, including checks, ACH, electronic transfers, and credit cards.
Reconcile vendor statements and accounts payable balances to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Maintain well-organized, audit-ready records of invoices, payments, and supporting documentation.
Assist with the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly accounts payable reports.
Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal control requirements.
Protect confidential financial, vendor, and company information with the highest level of discretion.
Communicate professionally and effectively with vendors and internal teams regarding payment status, account inquiries, and discrepancies.
Identify opportunities for process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness within accounts payable operations.
Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounts Payable or a closely related accounting role.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
CAPA or other relevant professional accounting certification is a plus.
Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Oracle, NetSuite, or comparable platforms.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong overall Microsoft Office skills.
Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles and accounts payable practices.
Strong analytical, mathematical, data-entry, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Proven ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and consistently meet deadlines in a remote environment.
Proficiency with remote collaboration tools, including email, video conferencing, and workplace communication platforms.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion.
